A free online noise generator with WAV export

This noise generator plays and exports six colours of noise straight from your browser — free, with no account and nothing to install. Everything is synthesised live on your own device, so playback never buffers and no audio is uploaded anywhere.

It is built for people who need the file as well as the sound: export at sample rates up to 96 kHz with 16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit float precision, mono or stereo, with the duration set to the millisecond. That covers everything from a ten-second test signal for speaker calibration to an hour-long masking loop for sleep.

All Six Noise Colors

White Noise

Pink Noise

Equal energy per octave (3dB/oct decrease). Sounds like rainfall or wind. Industry standard for room acoustics testing and speaker calibration. More natural to human hearing than white noise. The pink noise generator covers the calibration workflow in detail.

Brown Noise (Brownian/Red)

Energy decreases 6dB per octave. Deep, rumbling sound like a waterfall or distant thunder. Popular for relaxation, meditation, and focus work. Named after Brownian motion, not the color.

Blue Noise

Energy increases 3dB per octave. Bright, hissy quality with emphasis on high frequencies. Useful for dithering in digital audio, high-frequency testing, and special audio effects.

Violet Noise (Purple)

Energy increases 6dB per octave. The sharpest noise type with maximum high-frequency content. Used for tinnitus relief (for high-frequency tinnitus) and specialized audio engineering applications.

Grey Noise

Perceptually flat noise based on equal-loudness curves. Designed to sound uniform across the spectrum to human ears, accounting for the ear's varying sensitivity to different frequencies. Useful for psychoacoustic testing and tinnitus masking — the grey noise generator compares it directly against white and pink.

How to Export Noise Files

Technical Implementation

This tool uses mathematically accurate noise generation algorithms. White noise is true random generation. Pink noise uses Paul Kellett's refined filter method. Brown noise implements Brownian motion. Blue and violet use differentiation methods. Grey noise combines filtering with perceptual weighting. All audio is generated in real-time in your browser—no server processing required.

WAV export creates industry-standard files with proper headers, bit depth conversion, and sample rate matching. 32-bit float export uses IEEE floating-point format for maximum dynamic range and zero quantization error. All processing is done locally for privacy and speed.
